P2PU ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION PROJECTS

The Environmental Restoration course is a practical project-based course free and open to anyone with a desire to restore a tract of land or waterway in their community or country. Entry into this course requires submitting a short proposal: tell us about an existing place in need of renewal (degraded farmland, deforested landscape, polluted waterway, urban lot, your own back yard..) and your vision for its transformation. We will work together for the duration of the course (6 weeks) studying the principals of restoration, consulting with experts, and sharing recommendations for eachother's projects. By the end of the course, your project will have evolved into a legitimate restoration proposal that is ready for action.

The only prerequisite for Environmental Restoration is a strong sense of the importance of collaboration. Willingness to collaborate and actively participate in our online community is more important than having a background in biology and environmental science (although it helps). The course is project-based to faciliate the transfer of theory to practice - to bring knowledge into the realm of action - and also because projects are way more fun.

The Environmental Restoration course is set to begin Summer/Fall 2010.
