PROPOSED DECISION
- We will prepare a template that course organizers can use to start the social contract conversation with the course participants.
- Conversation (social contract development) needs to happen in a public, visible, transparent space.
- It will include reference to:
- The P2PU values: openness (reference to license), community, peer learning
- Expectation from course organizer for the group
- Questions to participants:
- What are your expectations?
- Any questions?
- Introductions
- There is a separate issue of re-confirmation from participants, which we'd like to handle separately. Develop re-confirmation into the course acceptance process on the site.
NOTES
Social contracts can range in execution from an email to accept the acceptance to a collaborative synchronous event where the group sets agreements.
What are we trying to achieve with this?
when people join a p2pu course they should already be aware of values & licensing
Values too fine-printish?
Licensing shouldn't the site convey this?
Expectations
as a group
as a facilitator
when you talk about expectations, you reinforce the values
Recommendations:
The platform should introduce values and licensing in the latest stage at the sign-up phase.
The social contract is the first message (forum) from organizer to their participants using the P2PU values to explain expectations - openness, peer learning & community
The purpose of this message is to lay the foundation for community building in the course.
